SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE

We operate sustainably,
protecting the environment—ours and yours

As a leading producer of fresh vegetables, we prioritize harmony between our production operations and a deep respect for the environment.

Our operations are planned and executed to minimize our impact on the planet while ensuring the highest quality and freshness of our vegetables.

At Green Crops, we show that environmental care, sustainability and responsible production can go hand in hand with success in the market.
We are proud of it!

See how we are working toward a green future
through sustainable farming practices

Our team— caring
for employees

People are our core value. Taking care of the team, is particularly important to us—the next steps in building our sustainable production model start with this.

We create safe working conditions and build a culture of occupational health and safety
We take care of the safety of our employees by ensuring appropriate working conditions that are important for the well-being of employees. We also provide the necessary training and personal protective equipment. We are building a health and safety culture by noting observations, near misses and accidents and taking appropriate corrective action to them. We conduct health and safety inspections and audits, as well as periodic meetings to discuss safety aspects.

Ethics first
It is important to us to conduct our business in accordance with the highest ethical standards, Everything we do is referenced in our code of ethical conduct, which includes issues such as creating healthy and safe workplaces, payment in accordance with hours worked and work performed, freedom of association and the right to collectively bargain for terms and conditions of employment, non-discrimination, compliance with local labor laws, not hiring children and limiting overtime

We focus on education and professional development:
We support the education and professional development of our employees by providing opportunities for training and acquiring new skills.

We are mindful of mental and physical health
We support the health of employees by providing emotional support, and and access to health care, in the form of medical packages or research organizations.

Emission reduction

A key element in the sustainability aspect of our operations is designing processes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

We optimize
We optimize all operations by aggregating activities and establishing logistics processes as efficiently as possible. In addition, we meticulously monitor the consumption of all resources, setting ambitious goals for the future!
We don’t waste
We streamline the process of harvesting vegetables to reduce food loss and waste. We moved most of the operations to the field so that everything possible takes place at the source. We take care of the refrigeration regime—we use efficient refrigeration techniques to get the goods to the customer as soon as possible.

We are Green we use energy from renewable energy sources, i.e. photovoltaic panels.

We Raise Awareness
and Train

Since everyone involved in the production process can have an impact on environmental protection, we are building awareness among our employees that every action, even small ones, can help protect the planet.

Soil: Our Treasure, Our Responsibility

Soil is a precious resource that requires special care. Integrated crop management techniques, soil health and proper plant nutrition are key to maintaining crop fertility and sustainability.

We apply Sustainable Cultivation Methods using regenerative practices that minimize disruption to soil structure. We practice crop rotation to maintain mineral balance and minimize soil depletion.

We Care for Soil Health
Caring for soil health is a priority for us. We use natural soil improvers to provide essential nutrients for plants, but most importantly to rebuild the humus layer. This directly contributes to carbon sequestration—which is an investment for the planet.

We provide anti-erosion protection We protect the soil from erosion. We are implementing conservation practices, such as planting strips of vegetation to stabilize the soil, prevent air and water erosion, and prevent loss of fertility.

Organic operations
We grow some of our crops organically. We do not use synthetic fertilizers and chemical pesticides there. We rely on nature, and we are taking the practices used on the organic farm to a larger scale.

Fertilizing with your head

Fertilizing plants is important for maintaining soil fertility and supplying essential nutrients. To do this in a sustainable way, we take into account the type of soil, the specific needs of the plants and minimize the negative impact on the environment.

We monitor
We invest in state-of-the-art soil monitoring technologies to accurately analyze the chemical composition, structure and moisture content of soil. Using the latest field scanning technology and soil sample data, we develop maps of the abundance of our fields, based on which we can plan precise crop fertilization.

We calculate
Fertilization is carried out on the basis of accurate calculations, taking into account data on soil abundance and the requirements of individual plants. The dose of fertilizer is calculated exactly according to the demand, so we can be sure that excess nutrients do not end up in the environment.

We operate with precision
Through the use of precision agriculture, we can tailor our cultivation practices to the individual needs of each area, which contributes to the optimal use of resources.

Nature comes first
Where possible, we also use natural fertilizers and soil improvers to help protect the structure and increase the humus layer in the soil.

Conservation of natural
resources—water

We realize that water is a precious resource that requires protection and responsible use. As we strive for a sustainable future, we focus on water management that serves the crops, people and communities we work with.

We use responsibly
We operate with full respect for water as a key element of life. We use precision irrigation systems to minimize water loss and ensure optimal conditions for our crops. We also use monitoring technologies to adapt our practices to changing weather conditions, thus protecting water resources.

We protect at the source
We take care of groundwater and surface water sources in the areas where we operate. We use farming methods that

minimize pollution and help keep water clean, protecting local ecosystems and ensuring the sustainability of water resources.

We educate
We believe that education is key to the sustainable use of water resources. All our employees are trained in the principles of efficient use of water resources.

We are improving
We are constantly looking for innovative water management solutions. We are introducing cutting-edge technologies that help us optimize water consumption while helping to improve water quality

Integrated protection

We use integrated pest control methods while minimizing the use of chemicals. We support natural predators and use preventive techniques to maintain a healthy balance in the soil ecosystem.

Monitoring
We focus on monitoring. We conduct cyclic vetting of our crops at all stages of growth in order to prevent the development of pathogens at the earliest possible stage of production. We use disease development models that, based on meteorological data, create an early warning system of possible infection risk. Supported by various types of pest trapping systems, we are able to accurately determine the timing of the most effective pest control.

Combining techniques
In integrated production, we combine appropriate agrotechnology, with mechanical, biological and chemical methods of protection—so that the latter are as few as possible.

Natural methods
We use biological methods to protect against pests and diseases. By combining vegetable crops with strips of barrier plants and a variety of flowering species, we increase the biodiversity of habitats by creating favorable conditions for beneficial organisms to thrive, which support our fight against pests. In crop protection, we also use various groups of microorganisms: bacteria, fungi, nematodes, which naturally reduce the occurrence of diseases and pests.

Protection of biodiversity

Preserving biodiversity is of great importance to us. It contributes to maintaining ecosystems, improving disease resistance and enhancing overall stability and ecological sustainability.

Maintaining natural habitats More than 3% of our cultivated areas are treated as natural habitats. We purposely do not convert them into places for crops—we want natural life to flourish on them, which affects our crops! In planning the further development of our crops, we will strive to increase the area of beneficial organism-friendly areas and preserve as many natural habitats as possible in our immediate surroundings
We cover our fields
We use catch crops and cover crops on more than half of our fields, creating favorable conditions for the soil microbiome to overwinter. We slow down erosion and provide food for various microorganisms
We have implemented a Biodiversity Conservation Plan
We have analyzed the impact of our operations on neighboring ecosystems and implemented a series of measures and plans to help minimize them.
We do not fence fields to facilitate the migration of wildlife species. In the immediate vicinity of our fields, we leave nesting sites for birds, shelters and resting places for animals that support our pest control, and build resting places for birds of prey. We also plan to establish flower meadows to help pollinating insects thrive.

Support of the
local community

While operating in a sustainable manner, we remember that we are part of the local community.

We hire locally
We work to create jobs. Quite a few of our neighbors have become part of our team.
We support local education
We collaborate with local schools whose students do their internships with us.
We work with local businesses
Although we operate globally—many of our contractors are local entrepreneurs. We always focus on our micro-environment.
We support local initiatives I join social initiatives on the scale of our region, while investing in local infrastructure.
